It is always a pleasure to be asked to write a foreword to any magical literature written by a friend. It is always a double pleasure when the author happens to be one of "my boys," who grew up in my magic shop and listened to my advice without paying any attention to it.
I always noticed that Allan had a funny effect on himself, and I see that he has transmitted this to many of his routines, such as the one you are about to read.
Some magicians have a serious presentation and some do the trick for laughs. This routine should please either variety.
If you do the rings now, you will have no trouble Incorporating a good share of Allan's moves with yours.
As no two pianists play a classical number in the same way, so It is with the rings; no two magicians ever do the same routine without adding their own twists, and some they have picked up along the way.
I have seen more ring routines than I can shake a wand at, but it Is still my favorite trick. You can saw six ladles In half and vanish a horse, but when they come backstage after the show. the thing they want to talk about is the Ring Trick. and can they feel of them? So I let them feel.
I started to write a foreword but I think It is really a four-letter word: Good.
This is a routine that you will like because it is good.
